Our Boston Marathon Runner, Melissa Starr, is having a fundraiser at The Halfway Cafe in Dedham and Watertown. Present our flyer at lunch, dinner, or during takeout on March 19 or March 21 and up to 20% of your total bill will be donated to her fundraiser for the WSYMCA! The Y is inspiring kids to live up to their potential by being healthy, active, and engaged! We're excited for families to unplug and come to the New Balance Track & Field for this FREE family event featuring healthy games, activities, and sports. 

WSYMCA Hosts Healthy Kids Day 2024 to Encourage Active Living and Learning for Families 

The West Suburban YMCA will hold Healthy Kids Day, a free community event, on Saturday May 11 from 2-4 pm. Healthy Kids Day will be held at the Church St Y at 276 Church St, Newton, MA. This annual event is part of the Y's nationwide initiative to improve the health and well-being of children and families. The Y aims to inspire kids to stay active, engaged, and learn while away from school, establishing healthy habits that can last a lifetime. 

Healthy Kids Day 2024 will offer a variety of fun and educational activities designed to keep children moving, exploring, and developing essential skills. The event will feature sports, a kid's DJ, obstacle course, arts and crafts, projects, snacks, and much more. Families attending the event will have the opportunity to connect with local community organizations and resources that support children's out-of-school learning and growth. Research indicates that children can face numerous obstacles during out-of-school time that hinder their academic, social, and physical development. Healthy Kids Day serves as a reminder that all children deserve the tools and opportunities to achieve their full potential, even when school is not in session.  

Healthy Kids Day 2024 at the Church Street Y is a free event open to the public, and all families in the Newton area are encouraged to attend.

Pickleball Afterhours Event

Pickleball at the Y is a favorite pastime of many of our members. Beyond its recreational appeal, pickleball has also become a platform for charitable endeavors. Let's serve and unite for the Y's mission with a pickleball afterhours event at the Wells Ave Y!

The Y closes at 9:00 P.M. But…this is March and time for a little MADNESS. So, let’s party after hours and LIVEITUP. We are opening the doors past closing for us to play, dance and socialize. 

Join us on Friday, March 22 from 9pm-midnight for a great night of community, pickleball open play, music and fun. Entry is $10 for members and $20 for non-members. You must pre-register. Register here. Event proceeds goes towards serving the Y's mission to strengthen the community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility for all.

Teen March Madness Night

Come experience a free afterhours March Madness event at the Wells Ave Y! Teens ages 12-18 are welcome for a fun night watching the Sweet Sixteen round of March Madness, and play in pick-up games, shooting competitions, and volleyball. Please register before this free event.

The West Suburban YMCA cares about teens and youth, and we're proud to organize events and offer a safe space for middle and high school teens to hang out together.

On Tuesday, March 5th, our Y will be participating in the Y Day of Giving, when we will raise awareness of the life-changing impact of the Y and invite donations to help advance our mission. 

For the Y Day of Giving, our fundraising will support two of our critical programs: Childcare and Livestrong at the YMCA. Our childcare programs support working families so that kids can grow and learn at the Y, and parents can work, knowing their children are safe and happy. Nearly half of our students rely on financial assistance in order to participate. Livestrong at the YMCA is a 12-week program for cancer survivors, which enables them to build physical and emotional strength while fostering strong connections with others. It is offered free of charge, removing one barrier during an already challenging time. We are excited to launch Livestrong at the Wells Ave YMCA for the first time this spring.  

We rely on charitable gifts from families like yours to enable these critical, mission-driven programs. On the Y Day of Giving, our goal is for 120 members to donate to the Annual Campaign. We hope you’ll join us! Help us get a jump start by making a donation here.
