As a community, we’ve ALL been doing our part to keep everyone safe during the pandemic. In order to best prepare for your visit, please review the following information before visiting the West Suburban YMCA.

Face Mask Policy

The following Face Mask Policy must be observed by all members, guests, and staff at the West Suburban YMCA.

Mask Policy beginning Saturday, February 19th:

  • Face masks will no longer be required, effective Saturday, 2/19/2022.
  • We fully support those who choose to wear a mask in our facility.
  • We expect all members and guests to adhere to our Code of Conduct and demonstrate the Y core values of respect, responsibility, caring, and honesty.

Please note: Our licensed childcare programs (Preschool and Out-of-School Time) follow guidelines set by the Dept. of Early Education and Care, and thus policies in these programs may differ from our member/guest policies. If you wish to learn more about the current policies in these programs, please reach out to the Welcome Center who can connect you with the appropriate staff member.

Reservation System

In response to the pandemic we implemented a reservation system to assist with capacity monitoring. As of September 2021, most offerings no longer require reservations. Please see below for a list of programs/offerings that still require reservations.

Reservations are only required for:

  • Squash/Racquetball Court
  • Virtual Classes (pre-registration via Zoom & current Y membership is required)

*Reservations are not required to attend indoor or outdoor group exercises.

Equipment, Layout, and Other Amenities

  • Equipment continues to be spaced at a comfortable distance and plexiglass dividers remain in place.
  • The whirlpool (male locker room) and sauna (female locker room) are now open; please note that masks should not be worn in these areas, therefore appropriate social distancing and capacity limits must be followed.

Nationwide Membership

The West Suburban YMCA accepts nationwide reciprocity.

Please note, many YMCAs across the country may not be open to their full capacity, and safety regulations vary significantly in each community. If you plan to visit a YMCA that is not your home Y, it is recommended that you confirm policies at each facility in advance of arrival.

Our policies have been made with consideration of ALL the populations we serve. We ask that all members demonstrate the YMCA values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility towards each other and our dedicated staff team.
