Summer Camps

2020: A Summer Like No Other

The spirit of camp was not just alive but thriving at the Y this summer despite a worldwide pandemic. Our phenomenal team provided hundreds of kids at Camp Pikati and Camp Chickami the summer experience they desperately needed following a difficult spring.

So what does summer camp during a pandemic look like?
Extensive planning and re-planning, tons of safely distanced fun, an enormous amount of creativity and flexibility, lots of hand washing, countless thumbs up and air fives, many a cannonball into the pool, a fair amount of "Hey - mask!" reminders, the occasional sweet treat, so much laughing and smizing, plenty of sanitizer, and zero outbreaks.

But most of all, it just looks like summer camp... kids having fun outside, running, jumping, splashing, laughing, playing, making memories with friends.

Thank you to all the parents who trusted us to provide a safe and fun summer for your children. Thank you to our campers who adapted remarkably well to new camp rules and protocols like mask wearing (some adults should take note!). And thank you to our incredible camp staff, proving themselves to be rock stars again and again while giving kids the best summer ever, pandemic style!

We hope to see you again next summer, whatever that may look like!
