Spend your summer with the West Suburban YMCA

Apr 03, 2024

2024 seems to already be a hectic year, especially if you are a parent. If you haven’t figured out your child’s summer plans yet, do not stress. The West Suburban YMCA has 3 amazing summer camps with spots available. These camps are not just a fun place for your child, they are proven programs that are committed to youth development day in and day out. Each camp works tirelessly to create a space where kids can discover who they are and build the foundation of confident, well-rounded individuals. Campers of all ages are given countless opportunities to make friends and memories that will last a lifetime. Learn more about camping offerings below:

Camp Frank A. Day:
YMCA Camp Frank A. Day, or “CFAD” as many campers and alum call it, is a coed summer overnight camp in East Brookfield, MA. Located on the picturesque Quacumquasit Pond, campers enjoy the “traditional” camp experience, from bugle calls to rustic cabins. Through activities like arts and crafts, kayaking, yoga, and more, campers build character and gain self-reliance. Founded in 1916, Camp Frank A. Day is steeped in tradition and history. With each new friend a camper makes, they become a bigger part of CFAD’s rich community of campers, counselors, and alumni. The best summer of your life is calling… will you answer?

Camp Pikati:
Located at the West Suburban YMCA’s Church St location, Camp Pikati (which means camp across the Pike!) is a day camp featuring activities like swimming, sports, arts and crafts, and more! It also features weekly field trips for campers aged 7 and older. Campers get to take full advantage of our Church St facility, playing games on our expansive outdoor sports field, participating in YMCA Swim Lessons, and spending time in rooms designed just for them. The Camp Pikati counselors create a welcoming and inclusive environment and are fantastic role models to all campers.

Camp Wells:
Located at the West Suburban YMCA’s new Wells Ave location, Camp Wells is a day camp featuring activities like sports, arts and crafts, hiking, archery and more! Campers get to enjoy the amazing new Wells Ave facility that features a water slide, gaga ball pit, archery range, and access to hiking trails. Each activity is run by amazing counselors who are trained to model YMCA values.

LITs:
The LIT or Leader in Training sessions provide the oldest campers (entering grades 7-9 for Wells and Pikati, ages 16-17 for CFAD) a way to transition from camper to counselor. This programming gives young adults the leadership and practical skills that prepare them to take on more responsibility both at camp and in their personal lives. LIT sessions are 2 weeks for day camps and 3-7 weeks for overnight camp. LITs will participate in a variety of activities both with each other and with campers to learn what it means to be a leader and what kind of leader they are. The LIT community is a tight knit one, with participants learning from and building off the strengths of their peers.

The West Suburban YMCA and it’s camps subscribe to the Y’s values of Caring, Responsibility, Respect, and Honesty. We believe that instilling these values into the youth in our care will create stronger, purpose driven communities and lead to a better world for all.
