Building Brighter Futures

Jack Fucci

Jun 09, 2016

On Thursday, May 26th, we held our 139th Annual Report to the Community, celebrating with and recognizing our members, staff and volunteers who help us build brighter futures everyday.

As we move into the second half of the year, I am pleased to share the following:

  • Our Board of Directors unanimously voted to move forward with a renovation project funded in part by the George Alden Trust. The renovation will expand our childcare center, create a state-of-the-art group exercise studio, rejuvenate the lobby to include space for members to convene, add new bathrooms close to the Wellness Center and a new cardio deck overlooking the New Balance Track & Field .

  • In 2015, we received over $387,000 in contributions and grants, while we provided and re-invested over $865,000 back to individuals and the community in the form of scholarships, in-kind services, facility use and outreach programs.

  • The results of a recently completed Community Needs Survey are providing valuable insight into the self-identified needs and interests of youth, adults, seniors and families here in Newton. We will incorporate the results into our strategic planning process and key deliverables over the next several years.

  • We are playing an active role in Mayor Setti Warren's Newton Leads 2040 initiative, supporting youth, families and seniors.

  • The Village Bank is once again the Presenting Sponsor for our Annual Golf & Tennis Tournament. Their continued support helps us to provide access to ALL for membership and life-changing programs. Thank you Village Bank for helping us build brighter futures!

  • We awarded exceptional members, volunteers and staff for their commitment to our Y, our mission and our core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Congratulations and thank you:
