West Suburban YMCA announces new board chair and several key staff appointments

The West Suburban YMCA, a nonprofit offering youth and community health, social and educational programs in Newton and surrounding communities, today announced new officers for its Board of Directors and several key staff appointments. Aaron Goldman will serve as chair of the volunteer board for the next two years.

Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) through the City of Newton.

We are grateful to announce that we have just been awarded a $38,100 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) through the City of Newton. These funds support financial aid for Newton residents attending our preschool and Out-of-School Time programs. This is our fourth CDBG grant since early 2021, amounting to $186,600 which has enabled even more children to grow and thrive at the Y. With CDBG funds, we have been able to increase our maximum subsidy for childcare financial aid from 30% to 60%, a critical difference for families facing continued economic challenges due to COVID-19.
