Mask Policy Update 2-17-2022 | West Suburban YMCA

Updated Mask Policy Effective 2/19

Feb 17, 2022

Newton Indoor Mask Mandate to be Lifted End of Day on Feb. 18th

The City of Newton is lifting its emergency order mandating face masks in indoor public spaces and businesses, effective end of day on Friday, Feb. 18th. Mayor Fuller cites the city's high vaccination rate, a significant decline in COVID positivity rate, and the state's expansive testing infrastructure as important factors in the decision.

What Does This Mean for the West Suburban YMCA?

  • UPDATED Member/Guest Mask Policy: Consistent with the City of Newton, the West Suburban YMCA will no longer require members, guests, or staff to wear face masks in our facility beginning Saturday, February 19th.
  • We Respect & Support Your Choice to Wear a Mask: While face masks will no longer be required, we fully support those who choose to wear a mask in our facility. We ask all members and guests to continue to demonstrate the Y core values of respect, responsibility, caring, and honesty.
  • Preschool & Out-of-School Time: Please note that our childcare programs are licensed by the Department of Early Education and Care and thus follow different guidelines. Students and staff members in these programs will continue to wear masks until further notice. We will communicate with preschool and OST families separately if we receive updated guidance.

As always, thank you for your cooperation and support throughout this ever evolving pandemic!
