Save Summer

Safe Summer

Can You Imagine a Summer Without Camp?

The West Suburban YMCA sure couldn't, especially this summer. The spring of 2020 was like no other. Our children lost the opportunity to learn, celebrate, and play with their peers. Many parents and caregivers struggled to support distance learning while balancing their own work needs. This summer, more than ever, kids need a safe space to unplug from technology and reconnect with friends in the outdoors, and caregivers need the peace-of-mind knowing that their children are safe, healthy, and having fun outside of the home.

The West Suburban YMCA's day camps - Camp Pikati and Camp Chickami - are preparing to be those spaces that kids and their families need so much right now. But we need your help. We need to invest over $100,000 to redesign camp - its programs, its staffing, its facility and grounds - to nurture friendship and community, encourage healthy habits, and keep kids safe in this new world.

Save Summer Today

For a Safe Summer: Facility modifications and upgrades, increased supplies and equipment, and additional staff to keep ratios low will ensure safe practices.
Summer for All: Reduced work hours and lost wages mean many families are facing economic hardship. Our financial aid program means that all kids who want to attend camp, can. Our Summer Eats food program provides free lunch and snack to any child in the community.
2020 and Beyond: The investments made at camp this year will lay the groundwork for continued upgrades and accommodations far beyond the summer of 2020.

Now, more than ever, we rely on your charitable gift of any size to make camp safe and accessible to all kids and families, regardless of their ability to pay.

Double Your Impact

Our board of directors has made the generous commitment to match your gift, dollar-for-dollar, up to a total of $20,000 through the month of July. Double your impact today.
