April Vacation Music Workshop

Join Creative Arts this spring for a musical workshop, including songwriting, recording, and more! The program is customized according to each participant’s talents, helping all students to set personal goals and work together to achieve them. We will learn the fundamentals of healthy singing/playing and explore new instruments and music styles. No prior experience necessary – open to all levels of experience.

Art & Design

Young students become artists as they create their own masterpieces! Students will develop new skills and talents, learn about different artistic styles, and design unique, imaginative creations using a variety of fun materials.

Creative Writing & Podcasting

Learn how to write, develop, and share a compelling story. Students will also be introduced to the Y’s recording studio, where they will learn to use audio and recording equipment, as well as basic editing concepts.

Drama 101

Program participants will learn the basics of performing both live on stage and recorded in a studio. Find your voice and practice sharing your story in different ways, as well as learning how to project and speak with confidence. No prior experience necessary!

Explorations! April Vacation

Fill this April Vacation with singing, dancing, painting, and more! With Creative Arts, youth will connect with their creative side through group lessons, unique crafting projects, and exploring what it means to be an artist. Participants will dive into the corners of their imagination and learn from members of our own community - sign up for a week of creativity today! Extended care available (7am - 6pm).

Family Tunes

Perfect for a first music class! In this introductory music program, toddlers and their caregivers will sing along to old and new favorites, take plenty of dance breaks, and have fun with small instruments and games.

Piano Small Group - Beginner

The perfect first piano class! Piano groups are fun, small classes where students are introduced to correct technique, good posture, and reading music, all while having fun with our collaborative music theory & skill games. Private Music Lessons

With the Creative Arts Department’s music lesson program, students of all ages can learn how to play and perform on a variety of instruments. Work with professional instructors and a customized curriculum with lessons in bass (electric + upright), cello, drums, guitar, music theory, piano, ukulele, and voice. Program fee covers 8 lessons.

West Suburban Singers

Introduced in Fall 2019, West Suburban Singers is a non-auditioned community chorus at the YMCA that celebrates the joys of singing! First rehearsal of Spring 2020 will be Monday, February 24. All are welcome!
