Mission Moments: Camp

In 2022, the West Suburban YMCA distributed almost $179,000 in financial aid to children attending camp. Being surrounded by nature and new friends gives hope and security to children while they grow and learn each day. We understand the value that camp has on a child, but the impact it has on the whole family comes without measure.

One mother lets us in on why she appreciates the financial aid that we offer. “As one in recovery, I feel that it’s my duty to give back to those that are suffering. I work at a homeless program in Boston, helping secure healthcare and housing to people in need. I love my work and clients, but I make minimum wage. I am so grateful for the aid the WSYMCA provides for my son to attend camp while I do the work I love, for people who also deserve love and care.”
