Community Award Winners Announced at Annual Meeting

Thank you to everyone who joined us at the Annual Dinner & Awards Celebration on May 24, 2018 and congratulations to the following volunteers, members, community partners and staff:

  • We elected of five new members to our Board of Directors: Albie Alvarez-Cote, Director at Financial Education Institute; Aaron Goldman, Communications Officer at Harvard University; Martha Hanlon, Senior Philanthropy Professional; Fredrick Mann, Education Consultant; and Peter Simshauser (missing from photo), Partner at Skadden Law Firm to its Board of Directors. "I'm thrilled to welcome these five talented community-minded board members to the West Suburban YMCA family and look forward to working with them.” said Gloria Gavris, West Suburban YMCA Board Chair. Further adding, “The board will continue to move the Y’s mission and recently completed Strategic Plan forward this term by delivering quality services and programming for all in Newton and its surrounding communities in our service area.”
  • Jane Carroll - Fitness & Wellness Director - was recognized for 15 years at the WSYMCA
  • Bain Capital received the Community Partner Award
  • Commitment to Excellence Award Winners:  Eddie Szeman, Camp Chickami Director; Yefim Vintsevsky, Maintenance Director; and Andrea Newman, Development & Events Coordinator
  • The Youth Awards went to YCCA student, Daniella Minidis and Blue Waves Swimmer, Andy Zhou
  • The Adult Volunteer Awards were given to Jane Shattuc and Stacey Ardini
  • The Teen Citizen Award was given to Newton North High School student, Emma Regan
  • The Living Our Cause Award went to Marketing & Communications Director, Lisa LaVallee
  • Jayme Tabor was awarded the Employee of the Year
  • Ed Fraktman was the recipient of the Ken Billings-Frank O'Halloran Award.
