Out-of-School Time

After-school Care for Grades K-8

The West Suburban YMCA Out of School Time Program is committed to making a difference in the lives of every child and family who choose the Y for afterschool care. The Out of School Time program provides learning experiences that are engaging and developmentally appropriate, focused on social and emotional growth, and emphasize self-confidence, self-esteem, and leadership, while also encouraging independence.

Who can participate? Children in grades K-8 who attend Newton Schools.

Where is the program located? We are conveniently located at the West Suburban YMCA in Newton Corner. Transportation to the Y is available from most elementary schools in Newton.

When does the program take place? Our program starts when children are released from school until 6PM. We have 2, 3, 4, and 5-day options. We offer extended hours on early release days and Vacation, Holiday, and Snow Day programming is available.

What activities do the children do? 

  • Physical fitness and recreation (using both our indoor and outdoor facilities)
  • Enrichment activities (STEM, Arts and Crafts, Creative Expression)
  • Free swim periods twice a week
  • Healthy snacks
  • Homework assistance
  • Additional YMCA Programs available to children (Sports, Swim, Music, Fitness Lessons
