Our annual party was one for the record books at our brand new facility, where over 200 guests gathered for a mysterious evening full of enchanting food, craft cocktails, alluring auctions, and magical music, all to benefit the Y's mission. We were enchanted  with your presence....

The West Suburban YMCA raised over $130,000 at its Annual Gala on Saturday, October 21, vital funds that will support the nonprofit organization’s many programs and services. The full-scale event, the first at the new Wells Ave Y, celebrated the new facility and a historic year for the organization which has experienced exponential growth. Newton Mayor Ruthanne Fuller recognized the Y’s far-reaching impact on the community.

Over 200 guests and 21 sponsors supported the event. The Y surpassed its $100,000 fundraising goal for the 2023 gala. Guests were encouraged to wear dramatic attire to match the “A Wicked Affair” theme.

Boston television and radio sports commentator and reporter, Michael Holley, emceed the evening with personal stories and humor. The gala included a cocktail hour, dinner by Beaujolais Catering, live music by The Passive Aggressives, magical acts by Jonathan Vale, tarot card reading by Liberty Graves, prizes, and an auction. 40 items were auctioned, including experiences with Salt Patisserie, Oak & Barrel, Cork & Board, The Street, and Che! Empanada.

The event was organized by a Gala Committee composed of Mary Appelbaum, Karen Bogard, Kristina Carroll, Emily Flynn, Gloria Gavris, Andy Gluck, Annie Greene, Martha Hanlon, Pam Haslam, Cindy Laughrea, Becky Manley, Donna Manley, Andrea Newman, Sara Pollock DeMedeiros, Carol Stoltze, and Heather Sundram.

2022 Roaring Twenties Gala Review

The West Suburban YMCA’s 2022 Annual Gala was held Saturday, November 5. This year’s Gala was sold out, raising nearly $130,000 to support the Y’s mission-based programs, enabling families of all backgrounds to develop healthy habits, build confidence, and foster strong relationships. This special event recognized retiring board chair Ned Morse’s six decades of involvement with the Y, and Newton Mayor Fuller presented Ned Morse with a Mayoral Proclamation of Achievement. The event was emceed by Boston sports personality Nick “Fitzy” Stevens, a longtime friend of the Y.
